Mission & Goals

Fastned is on a mission to accelerate the transition to electric mobility. By offering Europe’s most reliable, convenient and positive EV-charging experience across Europe’s highways and main roads, we aim to inspire millions to drive on solar and wind energy so that together we can curb climate change. We already operate close to 400 EV-Ultra fast charging stations across Europe and operate currently in nine countries. Our goal is a European network of 1000 fast charging stations at prime locations where all electric cars can charge, using only solar and wind power.

EU Legislative Interests

Strong policies are needed to create open and transparent markets that will foster the high-quality, fast-charging infrastructure required to support the transition to sustainable transport. Fastned would like to contribute to policy dialogue by sharing its experience with developing and operating hundreds of fast-charging locations in six countries. In particular, we are interested in supporting policies that open markets to competition, allowing new participants to offer solutions for the future. We are concerned that in many countries, scarce resources are allocated to incumbents without open and transparent tendering processes for fast charging. This often creates conflicts of interest and keeps out would be market participants. This has serious negative consequences for electric vehicle drivers and for the transition to a low-carbon future. The Implementation of the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation, along with DG Competition's call for contributions on the role of competition rules to enable sustainability policies are of particular interest to us. We are also interested in the revision of the Renewable Energy Directive, proposals on access to in vehicle data, energy market design and greening corporate fleets. Issues related to the electricity grid and grid congestion is a major focus for Fastned.
