Mission & Goals
The mission of the international Fairtrade network is to connect disadvantaged producers and consumers, promote fairer trading conditions and empower producers to combat poverty, strengthen their position and take more control over their lives. We utilize four tools - Certification that allows farmers and other companies, who strive towards sustainability, to differentiate themselves and find partners. The standards cover both human rights and environmental criteria. - Training and support to farmers and workers on their rights and agricultural practices. - Global education and campaigns to raise consumer awareness and encourage more responsible choices. - Advocacy work for fairer and more sustainable business practices and laws. Fairtrade Germany mainly operates in Germany, but also undertakes development projects in Latin America, Africa and Asia and collaborates with other Fairtrade organizations on EU-level and global advocacy work.
