Mission & Goals
The Faculty of Computer Science at “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași is a leading academic and research institution dedicated to education, research, and innovation in computer science and digital technologies. Its mission is to provide high-quality education, advance scientific knowledge, and contribute to the responsible development and use of emerging technologies, with a strong focus on artificial intelligence, distributed systems, cybersecurity, and data-driven systems. The Faculty delivers programmes at undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels, including specialised AI programmes and interdisciplinary studies on digital transformation. It is actively involved in national and European research projects, fostering collaboration between academia, industry, and public institutions. Through its activities, it contributes expertise and research-based insights relevant to the development and adoption of digital technologies in Europe.
EU Legislative Interests
The organisation’s activities are relevant to several European Union initiatives and legislative frameworks related to artificial intelligence, digital transformation, cybersecurity, data governance, and advanced digital technologies. Relevant EU legislative proposals, regulations, and policy initiatives include: - Regulation laying down harmonised rules on artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence Act); - European Strategy for Data; - Regulation on harmonised rules on fair access to and use of data (Data Act); - Regulation on European data governance (Data Governance Act); - Directive on measures for a high common level of cybersecurity across the Union (NIS2 Directive); - Digital Europe Programme; - Communication from the Commission on Fostering a European approach to Artificial Intelligence; - European Research Area (ERA) Policy Agenda; - European strategy for universities; - Communication on a Digital Decade for Europe: digital targets for 2030. The Faculty of Computer Science of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași contributes through education, research, doctoral training, interdisciplinary programmes, and participation in national and European projects related to artificial intelligence, distributed systems, cloud computing, cybersecurity, interoperability, digital transformation, and data-driven systems. Communication Activities

The Faculty of Computer Science at “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași comprises academic staff, researchers, and doctoral students engaged in education, research, and innovation in computer science and digital technologies. The Faculty includes teaching staff across all academic levels, research groups, and doctoral supervision structures, supporting activities in areas such as artificial intelligence, distributed systems, cybersecurity, and data-driven systems. It is affiliated with the Doctoral School of Computer Science and collaborates with research groups and centres within the University. The Faculty also maintains strong links with industry through partnerships with IT companies, as well as through technology transfer initiatives such as the iTransfer Technology Transfer Center. In addition, it engages with a broader ecosystem including students, alumni, partner organisations, and stakeholders from academia, industry, and the public sector, contributing to education, research, and digital innovation activities.
