Mission & Goals

ExportUSA ASBL is the newly established association affiliated with ExportUSA New York Corp., created to work in close cooperation with European institutions on key institutional matters related to trade and transatlantic relations, supply chains, security, and defense. Initially incorporated as an SPRL, we later decided to give our organization a stronger institutional dimension by transforming it into a non-profit association. This evolution reflects our commitment to raising awareness among institutions and stakeholders about the major international issues surrounding free markets, business internationalization, and global economic cooperation, while also creating events and initiatives focused on these strategic topics.

EU Legislative Interests

Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) & Data Governance Act (DGA): We submitted a proposal to the European Parliament outlining key recommendations for the use of artificial intelligence in forensic and investigative contexts. Our approach focuses on a set of clear, actionable principles aimed at ensuring investigations are both fair and secure. Communication on Trade Policy Review – “An Open, Sustainable and Assertive Trade Policy” (COM/2021/66): We developed and presented a proposal to the European Parliament focused on strengthening the resilience and sustainability of supply chains. The initiative particularly targets the automotive and energy sectors, aiming to enhance their operational security and environmental sustainability. European Chips Act – Communication, Regulation, Joint Undertaking, and Recommendation: We are currently preparing a proposal to be submitted to the European Parliament advocating for safer production of essential technologies—specifically chips and semiconductors. The goal is to reinforce transatlantic trade relations and support EU manufacturers in adopting a “just-in-case” strategy by fostering partnerships with reliable, Europe-based technology providers. Electronic Evidence in Criminal Matters – COM(2018) 225 / 2018/0108(COD): Proposal for a Regulation of the European Parliament and Council on European Production and Preservation Orders for electronic evidence in criminal matters. Our work contributes to shaping a more coherent and efficient legal framework to handle digital evidence across member states. Critical Raw Materials – A9-0260/2023 Report: We contributed to the discussion surrounding the European Parliament’s regulation aimed at establishing a secure and sustainable framework for the supply of critical raw materials. The proposal also amends several existing EU regulations to strengthen supply chain independence and resilience. EU Regulation 2024/2847 – Cyber Resilience Act: Adopted on 23 October 2024, this regulation sets horizontal cybersecurity requirements for products with digital components. It amends Regulations (EU) No 168/2013 and (EU) 2019/1020 and Directive (EU) 2020/1828. We are actively monitoring its implementation, particularly as it relates to digital product safety and resilience within the European Economic Area (EEA).
