Mission & Goals

The European Water Jetting Institute, EWJI, was founded in 2013, and is registered as a non-profit organization with European scope. Its mission is to promote the water jetting industry and its applications in Europe, towards the highest standards of safety, professional integrity and quality of service. To achieve this mission, EWJI works to create and uphold a global network of professionals and information, including companies (contractors, manufacturers and asset owners) and national associations, stakeholders and legislators, managers and workers, … all of them working together to develop and share best practices, regulations and training. The association brings together the stakeholders of the water jetting industry mainly focused on the following applications: industrial cleaning and maintenance, municipal cleaning, removal of coating and surface preparation, concrete removal and hydrodemolition, inspection, assessment and training.

EU Legislative Interests

Specific topics with a close connection to the water jetting industry, such as training, health and safety and regulations. For these purposes, EWJI is a liaison organisation in the CEN/TC 197 for standardising the pumps and other equipment connected to them. It is also an official campaign partner of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, which is part of DG EMPLOYMENT. As part of the campaign for 2023-2025, EWJI has created a technical guide on automation in industrial cleaning. Finally, EWJI is committed to disseminating the EU Taxonomy to its members.

Communication Activities

The EWJI celebrates annually a convention or forum. In both events, there are technical presentations to disseminate best practices for working efficiently and respecting health and safety criteria, dissemination of new technologies and regulatory changes affecting the industry. To disseminate knowledge of the industry and improve practices, EWJI develops Working groups, educational webinars and technical publications, for example: - Guide about health and safety in water jetting - Guide 'Why use hydrodemolition?' - Guide about the use of automation in industrial cleaning - Guide on applications of hose assemblies in water jetting

Additional Information

EWJI is a small association with a limited budget. This is why the majority of our budget is dedicated to activities for our members (i.e.: working groups, technical guides, annual events, educational webinars, ...), and the budget for activities covered by the EU Transparency Register is low.

Commissioner Meetings

No recorded meetings with EU commissioners.
