Mission & Goals
De European Union of Water Management Associations (EUWMA) vertegenwoordigt publieke, lokale en regionale waterbeheerorganisaties uit tien EU-lidstaten: België, Italië, Hongarije, Duitsland, Frankrijk, Spanje, Portugal, het Verenigd Koninkrijk, Roemenië en Nederland. De leden van de EUWMA zijn openbare instellingen met wettelijke bevoegdheden. EUWMA werd opgericht in 1996 met als hoofddoel de samenwerking tussen Europese waterbeheerorganisaties te bevorderen, zodat relevante informatie, standpunten en beleidsdocumenten kunnen worden verstrekt aan nationale regeringen, de Europese Commissie, het Europees Parlement en andere relevante instellingen. Daarnaast bevordert de EUWMA de uitwisseling van kennis en best practices tussen de leden. Naar onze mening kan de EU-waterwetgeving alleen succesvol zijn als water op regionaal niveau wordt beheerd.
