Mission & Goals

Set up in 1973, the ETUC comprises 93 national trade union confederations in 41 countries, plus 10 European trade union federations. The ETUC speaks with a single voice on behalf of European workers to have a stronger say in EU decision-making and aims to ensure that the EU is not just a single market for goods and services, but is also a Social Europe which delivers better working and living conditions and promotes collective bargaining and social dialogue, as the most successful way for working people to create a fair and sustainable future for themselves, their families and their communities. The ETUC defends the rights and interests of working people and trade unions at European level in different areas and topics and defends fundamental social values such as solidarity, equality, democracy, social justice and cohesion.

Communication Activities

The ETUC promotes and organises events and campaigns connected with its objectives and areas of work, including with regard to ongoing policy and legislative discussions and dossiers. Also, every year, the ETUC carries-out a number of European projects, co-financed by the EU (notably by the "social dialogue - SOCPL" Budget Headings). These projects include communication and dissemination activities such as European seminars and conferences, as well as the production of dissemination material (study reports, policy recommendations, info sheets) on issues related to workers' rights and social dialogue, among others.
