Mission & Goals

1. Increase awareness and understanding of the socio-economic importance of European travel and tourism;  2. Contribute to the sustainable development, training, research, and promotion of tourism to Europe;  3. Act as a forum that brings together diverse sectors and stakeholders of European tourism to share knowledge and experience, discuss issues of mutual concern and facilitate cooperation;  4. Encourage an efficient liaison with the European Commission and maintain a channel of mutual communication and information on EU legislation and actions;  5. Act as a permanent consultative body for the European Commission and other international institutions and organisations;  6. Maintain permanent relationships with relevant European and other international institutions and organisations concerned with tourism in the public and private sectors;  7. Support the common interests of Members towards all international bodies whose actions have influence on European tourism.

1. Directive (EU) 2015/2302 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 November 2015 on package travel and linked travel arrangements 2. Proposal for a DIRECTIVE OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL on substantiation and communication of explicit environmental claims (Green Claims Directive) 3. Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 establishing the EU’s Visa Code 4. VAT Package for Travel and Tourism 5. ViDA (VAT in the Digital Age) 6. Development of policy for or affecting sustainable transport and tourism

Communication Activities

1. Participation in ETIAS communication consultation with Frontex and DG Home. 2. Participation in Expert Group Together for EU Tourism – T4T (E03886), including support for delivery of webinars on Future Demand and Collaborative Governance 3. Email, newsletters, webinars and website content in relation to: - EES, ETIAS, Schengen - Package travel; and risk management - Driving hours - EU-funded activity and projects of interest to members 4.
