Mission & Goals
ESMA's objectives are to promote adoption and correct use of various specialist printing processes. This mission is realised on multiple conferences and other educational or networking events which deliver technical knowledge and understanding in order to enhance the leading market position of the European printing industry. Further activities include involvement in academic projects and research of niche markets.
EU Legislative Interests
ESMA Health, Safety & Environmental Protection committee has been recently targeting the following policies: Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability EU CLP Regulation, (EC) No.1272/2008 on the classification, labelling, and packaging of substances and mixtures - and related consultations Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 - Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) Various legislative instruments to regulate food contact materials (FCMs), e.g. General Food Law, Regulation (EC) No. 178/2002, Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food, Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006 on good manufacturing practice for materials and articles to come into contact with food, Regulation (EC) 2019/1381 ("Transparency Regulation"), Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 which establishes a list of substances that are permitted for use in the manufacture of plastic FCMs Regulation (EU) 2019/1148 on the marketing and use of explosives precursors In our other activities, such as conferences, trainings and webinars, ESMA thematises EU Green Deal and specific initiatives linked to sustainable production and technology development, e.g. the EU strategy for sustainable and circular textiles.

Textile Printing & Sustainability conference (www.tps-conference.com) The ongoing work of ESMA Health, Safety & Environmental Protection committee: exchange of best practices and state-of-the-art know-how, internal and external communication, incl. position papers.
