Mission & Goals
OCEAN – the European Ship Suppliers Organization – is the voice of Europe’s ship supply industry, founded in 1976 as Organisation de la Communauté Européenne des Avitailleurs de Navires. It represents hundreds of ship chandlers supplying goods and services to hundreds of thousands of ships across Europe’s 1,200 ports and 70,000 km of coastline. OCEAN advocates for an optimal business climate, engaging with EU policy-makers to ensure regulations reflect industry realities. The organization promotes competitiveness, best practices, and innovation, supporting members with guidance, training, and industry intelligence. Ship suppliers operate 24/7 year-round, providing essential provisions, technical equipment, and services critical to maritime trade. OCEAN also champions transparency, sustainability, and safety, fostering dialogue between members, authorities, and stakeholders to strengthen Europe’s ship supply sector.
