Mission & Goals

The European Regulation and Innovation Forum is an expert-led and not-for-profit Think Tank with the aim of promoting high-quality regulatory decision-making and governance standards conducive to fostering a regulatory environment that encourages innovation through the principles of better regulation. In order to achieve this, the Forum applies the expertise of a well-established network of experts to ‘horizontal’, cross-sectoral issues. In particular, it addresses regulatory decision-making structures, tools and processes, as well as the risks and benefits of new and emerging technologies, of climate change, and of lifestyle choices.

EU Legislative Interests

The European Regulation and Innovation Forum has a number of initiatives currently ongoing including: - Events and the drafting of policy papers on the role of science in regulatory decision-making. - The articulation and promotion of good practices in strengthening Better Regulation processes. -- Events and the drafting of policy papers on the establishment of a Law on Administrative Procedures in the EU to enhance the transparency of the regulatory process at EU level. - The promotion of the 'Innovation Stress Test' through events an policy notes to ensure that the EU maintains a regulatory environment conducive to innovation and growth.

Communication Activities

The ERIF has co-organized events on Innovation Policy, Scientific Integrity and the Innovation Principle with the Dutch, Bulgarian and Romanian Presidencies of the EU. Additional Information

Whilst the disclosed amount of EUR 100 000 seems modest it represents almost all the revenue of ERIF. The revenue enables us to fund all of our activities, which include several events per year on our core themes, and the occasional publication as well as research. These funds come almost exclusively from annual fees paid by our members, comprised of both international companies and sectoral trade associations. The additional funds which are mostly ad hoc, relate to research projects around our core themes.
