Mission & Goals

The EPRM is a multi-stakeholder initiative that promotes and supports the responsible production and sourcing of minerals with a focus on ASM in high-risk areas. The EPRM supports compliance with the OECD Guidance in line with due diligence legislation. Bringing together governments, supply chain actors, civil society organisations, and key institutional stakeholders, the EPRM works to address challenges and leverage opportunities in the ASM sector to ensure its integration into reliable and responsible mineral supply chains.

EU Legislative Interests

The EPRM is set up as an accompanying measure to the following EU legislation: EU regulation: 2017/821 Conflict Minerals as mandated by the joint communication to teh EP and the Council on responsible sourcing of minerals of 5 March 2014 JOIN(2014)8Final https://ec.europa.eu/trade/policy/in-focus/conflict-minerals-regulation/legal-texts-and-documents/ Main purpose of influencing is to ensure thatt EU legislation and policies give necesary attention to Artisanal and Small-scale mining due diligence as per the aforementionned joined communication also having regard to the impact of EU legislation in minerlas producing development countries.
