Mission & Goals
EUNEC is a network of european education councils. These national or regional councils work in different ways to advice education policy in their respective countries. At EUNEC, we aim to look beyond national and regional politics: we look at topics we have in common in the field of education, to find trends and differences between the countries. Our goal is to share knowledge and insights on key educational issues that are relevant across Europe, such as equal opportunities in education, digital transformation, lifelong learning, and the quality of education. EUNEC is, first and foremost, a learning network for its members. We promote exchange and collaboration through digital interactions and an annual seminar, where we engage in in-depth discussions on current educational challenges and share inspiring best practices. In this way, we strengthen education policy across Europe and contribute to innovation and progress in education.

Focus in 2014 on learning in the digital age and on bridging the transitions between education and the labour market. In 2015 on Professional Developments for Teachers. In 2016 on Governance in Education. In 2017 on Making Education More Inclusive. In 2018 on Citizenship and common values through Education. In 2019, on Education councils and the developments towards a European Education area. In 2020 on the preparedness of education systems for the future. In 2021 on the role of education councils in dealing with the pandemic and in preparing recovery. In 2022 on education councils as boundary organizations.

Seminar in May 2014 in Athens on learning in the digital age and publication of report including recommendations/ Conference in October 2014 in Prague on transitions between education and labour market and publication on report including recommendations. Peer learning actitivity on optimising participatory policy advice. Seminar in September 2015 in Dublin on professional developments for teachers. Seminar in September 2016 in Amsterdam on governance in Education Seminar in May 2017 in Bucharest on inclusive Education. Seminar in March 2018 in Lisbon on citizenship Education Seminar in June 2019 in Sèvres (Paris) on the European Education area Consultation on education councils in times of covid crisis, followed by two online exchange meetings on the topic, and on recovery Seminar in June 2022 in The Hague on 'are our education systems fit for the future?' and celebration 22th anniversary of EUNEC (education councils as boundary organizations) Seminar in May 2023 in Madrid on 'Towards effective stakeholder engagement in education policy making, in the countries and in the regions'.
