Mission & Goals
Our aim is to improve cooperation between, and good mutual understanding amongst, the Councils for the Judiciary and the members of the Judiciary of the European Union (or candidate) Member States. Within the framework of the creation of the European Area of freedom, security and justice, the objectives of the Association are co-operation between members and the analysis of and information on the structures and competencies of members and exchanges between the members; the exchange of experience in relation to how the judiciary is organised and how it functions; the provision of expertise, experience and proposals to European Union institutions and other national and international organisations.
EU Legislative Interests
Effective Justice Systems in terms of independence, accountability, quality and efficiency, EU Justice Scoreboard, Rule of Law recommendations, reinforcing, promoting and protecting the Rule of Law. Promoting digitalisation of justice.
Communication Activities
Tri-annual survey among judges to measure their independence. Report on Independence and Accountability mapping challenges in national justice systems yearly.

Member Of
ENCJ is an institutional observer at the European Law Institute. It has also signed an MoU with the European Judicial Training Network.

Additional Information
Framework Partnership Agreement with European Commission under the Justice Programme to provide Operating Grants to Judicial Networks that promote Access to Justice and Rule of Law.
