Mission & Goals
The European Media and Information Fund (EMIF) pursues objectives of public interest. The Fund has no legal personality. It is an open, multi-donor initiative for the purposes and under the terms agreed between the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, where it is established, and the European University Institute. In particular, the Fund will support fact-checking, investigative journalism and media literacy initiatives as well as academic and research projects in the same areas. Research and scholarships for European young scholars and policymakers investigating areas of concern to the main purpose of the Fund will also be supported (for example with Master scholarships and individual research fellowships). In accordance with the Foundation’s working methods, the Fund will support those initiatives likely to have a multiplier effect and encourage social, scientific or cultural innovation
