Mission & Goals
The European Leveraged Finance Association (ELFA) is a buyside-only trade association comprised of European investors and non-bank lenders in the high-yield, leveraged loan, CLO and private debt markets. Its membership consists of more than 55 institutional fixed income managers, including investment advisors, insurance corporates, CLO managers and pension funds. ELFA seeks to support the growth and resilience of the leveraged finance market while acting as the voice of its community by promoting transparency, improving standards and facilitating engagement among European leveraged finance market participants.
EU Legislative Interests
ELFA concentrates on cross-border market practice and regulatory issues affecting the buyside because we have a pan-European focus. Main EU initiatives, policies and legislative files currently followed include (list not exhaustive): Securitisation Regulation, Market Abuse Regulation (MAR), Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITS) Directive, UCITS Eligible Assets Directive, Regulation on Credit Rating Agencies (CRA), Capital Markets Union (CMU), Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD), Markets in Financial Instruments Directive II (MiFID II), Corporate Insolvency Law Harmonisation, EU Green Taxonomy, Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive and Green Bonds.

Recent EU consultations that ELFA has responded to include: - ESMA's Consultation on Guidelines on funds’ names using Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) or sustainability-related terms - European Commission's Targeted Consultation on the Implementation of the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) - ESMA's Call for Evidence on the review of the Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITS) Eligible Assets Directive - European Commission's Call for Evidence on the review of the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) - European Commission's Targeted Consultation on the integration of EU Capital Markets - European Commission's Have your Say on Savings and Investments Union: Regulation fostering EU market integration and efficient supervision - ELFA conducts webinars on EU regulatory topics of interest to its members. Recent webinars have covered the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation and loan‑originating funds under the revised Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD II)
