Mission & Goals

The European Food Information Council (EUFIC), is a consumer-oriented non-profit organisation, founded to make the science behind food and health more accessible and easier to understand among the public. Our mission is to produce science-based content and activities to empower and facilitate healthier and more sustainable diets and lifestyles among European citizens. We cover a wide range of topics on food and health, including healthy and sustainable diets, nutrients, food production, food safety, or food risk communication amongst others. We also conduct consumer research to find out people’s perceptions, views and preferences on some of those areas. Our information is based on research evidence supported by the wider scientific community, as well as resources of authoritative bodies such as the WHO, FAO and European authorities.

EU Legislative Interests

As EUFIC communicates about food and health issues, we follow policies in those areas to be appraised – e.g. EU Green Deal, EU farm to fork strategy. We also follow EU research and innovation policies – e.g. FOOD2030.

Communication Activities

EUFIC sporadically communicates on EC legislation to explain it to the public, e.g. farm to fork strategy. Annual reports available on https://www.eufic.org/en/who-we-are/annual-reports EUFIC sporadically organizes events in the framework of EU-funded projects activities (on behalf of the Consortium Partners) were representatives of the EU Institutions are invited to present or attend. We also participate in operating grants under the EU4Health programme (last obtained was the "EUFIC-OG-2023" under grant agreement No 101124527, while in 2024 we signed a Framework Partnership Agreement "EUFIC-FPA-2025-26" under grant agreement No101196996 as part of the preselection procedure for operating grants in 2025 and 2026).
