Mission & Goals
efhco is the umbrella body representing 21 healthcare clown organizations with professional trained clowns in EU Healthcare (hospitals/care homes for children, seniors, dementia or any special needs) or other environments. By bringing humor, solace and laughter into hospitals, hospices, care institutions, Healthcare clowns have been found to boost the resistance and willpower of their patients, whether young children or adults. efhco represents registered 21 NGOs from Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Slovakia, The Netherlands, UK, Switzerland. efhco aims to 1) Raise awareness for the importance of professional clowns work in healthcare 2) Lobbying for a Common EU / ECVET Qualification in professional Clown Training and within the Curricula of Medical staff; Establish best practices and working methods 3) Maintain the standard of the Quality Label by efhco, offered by regular audits for its full members

Communication Activities
Being a young, growing European Federation our main goals within the upcoming legislative period is 1) Lobbying for the implementation of a Common EU / ECVET Qualification for professional Healthcare Clowns by qualified training and trainers, 2) Lobbying for the Implementation of a basic knowledge on Healthcare Clowning as part of a holistic approach into the curricula of European Medical staff education. 3) Our goal is the integration of the Healthcare Clown work as an essential part into the Healthcare Systems of EU member states. 3) Fostering European Research and Assessment to measure the actual impact of Clown’s work within the Healthcare sector (patients, family members and medical staff).
