Mission & Goals
The European Federation of Allergy and Airways Diseases Patients’ Associations (EFA) is the voice of the 200 million people living with allergy, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and atopic eczema in Europe. We bring together 45 national associations from 26 countries and channel their knowledge and demands to the European institutions. We connect European stakeholders to ignite change and bridge the policy gaps on allergy and airways diseases so that patients live uncompromised lives, have the right and access to the best quality care and a safe environment.

Public health: Tobacco and smoking/vaping control, chemicals, disease prevention and health promotion, healthy ageing, health inequalities, health emergencies & crisis preparedness, One Health Healthcare: Health systems, clinical trials, medicines, vaccines, medical devices, Health Technology Assessment (HTA), health data, digital health, non-communicable diseases (NCD), quality of life Food: Food safety, food processing, authorisation, safety and information (allergen labelling) Environment: Indoor air quality, ambient air quality, air pollution Climate change: health vulnerabilities against climate change, mitigation and adaptation plans and strategies. Health impacts of: heatwaves and wildfires, pollen and biodiversity, floods, mould infectious diseases and access to care in emergencies, drought and air dryness. Budget: EU4Health Programme, LIFE Programme, DIGITAL Programme, HORIZON Programme. Research agenda: chronic diseases, infectious diseases, environmental health, digital transitions and civil society participation.

The European Lung Health Group (ELHG, launched in 2021) is a collaboration of 9 European patient associations and healthcare professionals joining forces to raise awareness about lung health, highlighting the importance of lungs, better preparing Europe for future health crises, and lessening the strain on the healthcare system.
