Mission & Goals
FEDARENE was created on the 6th of June 1990 by 6 regional authorities: Rhônes-Alpes, Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur, Wallonie, Pais Vasco, Aquitaine, and Nord-Pas-De-Calais. Motivated by various European Commission programmes, local authorities sought to elevate the voices of regions in the discussion of energy and environmental policies at the European level. FEDARENE aims to empower energy agencies and regions towards a united, climate-neutral Europe. It acts as a bridge between the regional and European level, facilitating interregional cooperation, and adapting to the local particularities to ensure just transition. FEDARENE contributes to the development of partnerships between its members by offering them the possibility of exchanging experiences and sharing their expertise in the fields of energy management, development of renewable energies as well as the protection and promotion of the environment in the framework of sustainable development.
