Mission & Goals
EWF - European Federation for Welding, Joining and Cutting is an international non-profit association, founded in 1992, aiming at the collaboration in the study and solution of welding-related problems encountered within its fields of competence and the removal of technical barriers. The exchange of scientific and technical information, the preparation of harmonised rules for the education and training of personnel involved in welding, joining and related technologies, and the encouragement of projects for co-operative research able EWF to act as the representative of the welding community in Europe. EWF, in conjunction with it's members, the relevant national welding institutes and organisations of 30 European countries, has made great efforts in the updating and harmonisation of training and education in the field of welding, related technologies and additive manufacturing. EU Legislative Interests
EWF is involved in some activities in order to influence particular EU policies or legislative proposals. Some examples of those activities are the following: - Horizon Europe priorities and objectives to promote technologies like Joining, Welding and Additive Manufacturing. This is done through engagement with DG Research and DG Connect; - Erasmus + priorities and objectives in order to promote VET specially related to Manufacturing Skills and Professions. This is done through engagement with DG for Education and Culture and DG Employment; - Legislation related to Health and Safety that might have an impact in the manufacturing sector (e.g. Directive 2013/35/EU and NOx Legislation).
Communication Activities
EWF and some of its members are involved in the preparation, participation and coordination of several European projects in the frame of Erasmus+ projects (e.g. Green, Aileen, Piece, SingForGreen, Vr-Vet, Five and Hints, Weldify, Cove-Wendt, Ocean, Inspire, SkillsS4EII), Horizon 2020 projects (e.g. Albatross) and Horizon Europe projects (e.g. OPeraTIC, RARE2, Disco2030, Syntecs, Arise, MetaFacturing, Restore, R3Mydas, Dilapro and Flash, Aid4Sme).

Member Of
The European Federation for Welding, Joining and Cutting, as 30 European members and manages a harmonized international system for training qualification and certification of welding related technologies and additive manufacturing personnel. Mutually recognized in more than 40 countries worldwide. It is also responsible for the Certification System of companies using welding in Quality, Environment, Health and Safety. Considering the organizations implementing the EWF education, training qualification and certification systems for personnel and companies in the welding sector the EWF network comprises more than 50.000 organizations.

Additional Information
EWF as an association, has it's main income from membership fees and complemented by the funds of the European Programmes for the implementation of Projets such as erasmus+ and H2020.
