Mission & Goals

To develop and strengthen economic relations between Nepal and Europe . The Chamber endeavors to be a mediator between partners in Nepal and the Member States of the European Union and other European countries to enhance the business and social interactions .EEC Nepal works to liaise and advice European and Nepalese business and professional enterprises to developed conducive polices for increasing the economic and trade interaction . EU Legislative Interests

European Economic Chamber of Nepal (EEC-Nepal) is a member of the Commission expert group of The European Business Organisations Worldwide Network. At the meeting of the Expert Group, Current market access problems that are being experienced in Nepal are discussed. The meetings of the expert group serve to ensure that the EBOs are kept up to date with current EU policies, thereby fostering coherence in the way EU industry presents itself overseas. Currently EEC is targeting the EU Policy for LDC countries progression to middle income economy by January 01 '2026 and progression to GSP Plus from Duty free concessions. There is request from the stakeholders to Government of Nepal to reassess the capacity of Nepal for the progression which is under consideration.

Communication Activities

EEC Nepal effectively participates in bilateral between EU and Nepal meetings to advocate the interest of EU in Nepal. The 11th assembly of the Nepal-EU Joint Commission was held in Kathmandu in 2019 trading substantive issues on the most recent political circumstances in Nepal and EU, improvement participation, Nepal’s graduation from LDCs, air safety issues, discussions on security issues examining different ways and implies to encourage fortify socio-economic relationship between Nepal and the EU. It was moreover facilitated by EEC-Nepal as a member of Economic Diplomacy committee at the Ministry of foreign affairs, Government of Nepal Publications: European Union-Nepal Trade Report Nepal –European Union Partners in Progress and Development Nepal-Europe Business Year Book-2014,2015,2016,2017,2018 How to Export To Europe, October 2017 Organized a seminar on Trade and Investment in August 2022 and published a publication Trade data and some articles relevant to Nepal EU trade throuh a publication Published in 2022 on Trade and investment, Organized EU Nepal Business Forum in May 2023 Activities During January 2024 till December 2024 On April 01 2024, EEC hosted a reception in honor of Ambassador of EU delegate to Nepal to introduce to members of EEC, Honorary Consular of European countries in Nepal, Ambassador/ representative of France, Swiss, Norway Germany were present. Asst. Minister for Trade and Industry was chief Guest. Matters of Bilateral trade relations between Nepal and EU was discussed and exchanged on the occasion. EU Delegation Ambassador Veronique Lorenzo accepted to be Honorary President of EEC Nepal Mr Bajaj attended EBO WWN annual meeting at Brussels in June 2024 where members of EU/Commission, DG Grow were present. EEC too actively participated in such meetings. As per the initiatives taken by EBO, It was decided to form a reginal body of south east and Middle East , EBG India was entrusted with the Task. . President of EEC was invited by EU Delegate to meet with visiting EU delegate to Nepal led by Deputy Managing Director for Asia Pacific to discuss on role of private sector contribution to Nepal's Green, Resilient, Inclusive Devlopment. EU delegate organised a meeting with Chairman of Nepal Planning commission, Commerce Secretary , Director of ILO and some private sector to discuss on preparation of Nepal Government looking at the challenges to Export from Nepal To EU post LDC progression and application of GSP Plus. President EEC attended it. Organized a talk program on LDC Graduation - Challenges and Opportunity for Nepal EU Delegation in association with EEC Nepal organized EU Nepal Business forum in May 2024 to mark 50Th Anniversary of Nepal EU Diplomatic Relations EEC president while attending EBO Annual meeting ,Held a meeting at Brussels in June 024 with high officials of INTPA Attended various seminars and training programs organized by EBO WWN Attended at the closing ceremony of EU-Nepal Trade and Investment Program as a Key Note Speaker. EEC was a partner of this TIP Project since Activities between January 2025 to Dec 2025 Welcomed U businesses delegation from India for a brief on investment opportunities for EU investment in Nepal in sector like Energy, IT, Tourism in Feb 2025 in coordination with EU Delegation. The delegates met with Different Ministers EU Business Forum planned for November 2025, however postponed due to Zen Z agitation in September 2025 Organized a information session for export oriented SME on ITC trade portal. Represented EEC at EBO WWN annual meeting in June 2025 at Brussels. EEC Nepal was appointed regional coordinator for South Asia and Middle East. Organized information session on CS3D , EEN, Advocacy Tool for members of the region in collaboration with DG Grow, EEN, EBO WWN

Additional Information

EEC conducts its activities and meet the administration expenses through annual membership contributions from members. Besides short training programs are conducted for members knowledge enhancement, where participating members bears the cost. Every two years EEC publish a member Handbook providing different trade related information. Any surplus from it is expensed out on skill devlopment activities. EEC published the book in 2023 EEC has one full time paid Executive and a junior staff , besides the other costs are rent and office expenses. With respect to activities EEC mostly organise with support and contributions from sponsors to minimise cost of operation of the EEC>
