Mission & Goals

EDFA objectives are to advocate for better access to modern, more affordable andsecure financial services and to enhance innovation in the financial sector by means ofemerging digital technologies through promoting technological development, discussingrelevant legal changes and supporting innovative business ecosystem that accord withthe relevant principles of EU and international law, promote the industry best practices,meet the highest standards of customer protection, transparency, cybersecurity, privacy,and sustainability. EDFA wants to achieve these objectives by:a. Maintaining a permanent and constructive dialogue with relevant Europeaninstitutions, regulatory authorities and governmental bodies,b. Representing its members vis-a-vis all relevant national, regional and globalstakeholdersc. Identifying, and attempting to resolve, in part or in whole, obstacles for financialinnovation and technology deployment in the Digital Single Market and in the globalcontext.

- Digital finance strategy - Data Strategy - AI Act - Sandboxes and regulatory support of innovation - Financial Data Access (FiDA)

Communication Activities

- EDFA organises regular thematic working group sessions bringing together fintech practitioners, national association representatives, and policy experts to develop common positions on EU legislative files. - EDFA publishes a monthly newsletter covering regulatory developments, open consultations, and EU institutional engagements relevant to the digital finance sector. - EDFA responds to European Commission and European supervisory authority consultations, including EBA, ESMA, and AMLA. - EDFA publishes policy papers, open letters, and statements addressed to EU institutions on priority legislative files.
