Mission & Goals
COST provides networking opportunities for researchers and innovators in order to strengthen Europe’s capacity to address scientific, technological and societal challenges. In order to achieve its mission, COST has three strategic priorities: - Promoting and spreading excellence - Fostering interdisciplinary research for breakthrough science - Empowering and retaining young researchers and innovators Through its inclusiveness policy, COST supports the integration of research communities, leverages national research investments and addresses issues of global relevance. COST is thus a building block of the European Research Area, instrumental for successful innovation strategies and global cooperation.
EU Legislative Interests
Budgetary discussions in the European Parliament for the FP Horizon Europe as COST is funded a 100 % from the Widening Pillar. Rules for implementation of Horizon Europe. Follow all the research, R&I files of the ITRE committee as relevant for our Association.
Communication Activities
COST actively engages with Members of the European Parliament, particularly those in key Committees shaping future Research and Innovation legislation. Through targeted campaigns, COST ensures that its policy recommendations and briefs are heard during public hearings and conferences organised by the Committee or related bodies. Additionally, COST promotes its Action networks to raise awareness and offer evidence-based input that supports the development of effective, topic-specific R&I policies. The COST Association closely monitors the work of the Budget Control Committee to safeguard funding for its research networks, ensuring continued support for collaborative scientific initiatives.
