Mission & Goals
ECIU is the leading international consortium of research intensive universities with collective emphasis on innovation, creativity and societal impact, driving the development of a knowledge-based economy. ECIU stands for strong commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship, to drive the regional development and innovation agenda. Excellence of research and unconventional forms of teaching and learning. The ECIU University is the first European University where learners, teachers, and researchers collaborate with cities and businesses to solve real-world challenges.
EU Legislative Interests
Education policies, Erasmus+ programme, the European Universities' Initiative, innovation in education, micro-credentials, the concept of flexible learning pathways, European Degree. The ECIU University project with the participation of all members is a funded project under the pilot call European Universities of DG EAC. Research & Innovation policies, Horizon 2020 programme, Horizon Europe, the European Innovation Council, Research Assessment, European Innovation Act, Start-up and Scale-up Strategy, European Research Area (ERA), AI ACT, Knowledge Valorization, Impact Regional policies. The role of universities in the regional ecosystem, the development of smart regions.
Communication Activities
Presentation of policy papers, e.g. about Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, European Alliances. Coordination of FOREU-4All European Research and Innovation Policies Education Innovation through digital transformation and micro-credentials Smart Regions Active participation in expert meetings and consultative meetings organised by the European Parliament, European Commission, Commitee of the Regions and relevant European stakeholders.
