Mission & Goals

On behalf of its members, ECA monitors and reports on developments impacting the cocoa sector (food safety, sustainability, trade, environment, transport, among others). In addition, ECA is actively engaged in European and International fora (ICCO, World Cocoa Foundation, International Cocoa Initiative) related to the industry’s contribution to a sustainable cocoa economy.

EU Legislative Interests

We currently follow the following topics: Food Safety, Trade, Logistics, Sustainability and Environment. More specifically we monitor the following initiatives : Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) Industrial Emissions Directives Energy Efficiency Directive Promotion of Energy from Renewable sources Directive Prohibiting Products made with Forced Labour Regulation Revision of Waste Reduction Directive EU Emissions Trading System EU Trade Policy & Agreements Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive New Genome Techniques Use of Renewable and Low-Carbon Fuels in Maritime transport Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP) Sustainable Food Systems Pesticides and Contaminants Maximum (Residue) Limits

Internal monthly newsletters covering EU-regulated developments on trade, sustainability, logistics and transports, food safety Regular organization of webinars and workshops on specific EU topics Regular organization of conferences on EU topics Organisation of the ECA-Forum (once every 3 years) addressing EU priorities
