Mission & Goals

1. Trade & Investment Promotion • Facilitate and increase bilateral trade and investment between EU member states and Guyana. • Support European businesses in entering or expanding within the Guyanese market. • Advocate for favorable trade policies and reduced barriers to EU-Guyana commerce. 2. Business Advocacy & Representation • Represent the interests of EU businesses in Guyana to the government, policymakers, and key stakeholders. • Participate in consultations on regulatory and economic reforms. • Advocate for transparency, good governance, and private sector engagement in national development. 3. Networking & Business Development • Provide a platform for EU and Guyanese businesses to connect, collaborate, and form partnerships. • Host business forums, trade missions, B2B meetings, and networking receptions. • Offer access to sector-specific working groups to address industry challenges and opportunities. 4. EU Legislative Interests

1. EU-Caribbean Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) • Objective: Promote trade, investment, and sustainable development between the EU and CARIFORUM States (including Guyana). • Chamber’s Role: • Advocate for full implementation and awareness. • Support local businesses in taking advantage of preferential market access. • Monitor and influence EPA reviews and modernization efforts. 2. EU Green Deal • Objective: Make Europe climate-neutral by 2050. • Relevant Initiatives: • Circular economy action plan. • Biodiversity strategy. • Sustainable products regulation. • Chamber’s Role: • Promote EU green technology and services in Guyana. • Foster partnerships in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and climate resilience. • Help local companies prepare for EU environmental compliance (e.g., carbon border adjustment mechanism). 3. Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) • Objective: Require EU companies to assess and address environmental and human rights impacts across their supply chains. • Chamber’s Role: • Help Guyanese suppliers and partners comply with EU due diligence requirements. • Provide training, capacity building, and ESG toolkits. 4. EU Global Gateway Initiative • Objective: Mobilize €300 billion for sustainable global infrastructure investment. • Chamber’s Role: • Identify investment opportunities in Guyana aligned with the initiative. • Facilitate EU private sector involvement in digital, energy, transport, health, and education projects. 5. Digital Services Act & Digital Markets Act • Objective: Ensure fair digital markets and regulate large online platforms. • Chamber’s Role: • Promote digital compliance among Guyanese partners and service providers. • Advocate for fair digital trade and e-commerce development. 6. Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP+) • Objective: Support developing countries by granting duty-free access to EU markets, contingent on implementing international conventions. • Chamber’s Role: • Ensure Guyana leverages GSP+ benefits. • Support businesses in maintaining compliance with human rights, labor, and environmental standards. 7. Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) • Objective: Increase transparency in how financial institutions integrate ESG risks. • Chamber’s Role: • Attract EU sustainable investors to Guyana by improving ESG reporting frameworks. • Promote responsible investment and financial sustainability.

Communication Activities

1. Annual EU–Guyana Business Forum Purpose: Promote trade, investment, and sustainable development. • Focus themes: EU Green Deal, Corporate Sustainability, Digital Economy. • Target audience: local businesses, EU investors, and government stakeholders. • Format: Keynotes, policy panels, B2B networking sessions. 2. EU Compliance Readiness Bootcamps Purpose: Equip SMEs with tools to meet EU regulations. • Topics: ESG reporting, sustainable product standards, digital compliance. • Duration: 2–3 day intensive bootcamps in partnership with EU technical experts. • Deliverables: Templates, toolkits, and checklists. 5. Sustainable Trade and Finance Webinars Purpose: Raise awareness of EU sustainable finance rules and investor expectations. • Hosted with: Local banks, investment promotion agencies, EU financial institutions. • Topics: SFDR, green bonds, blended finance under the Global Gateway initiative. 6.
