Mission & Goals
EurOcean is the European Centre for Information on Marine Science and Technology. EurOcean is an independent, non-profit, scientific organization that aims to support European Marine Science and Technology advances, by fostering cooperation and information exchange among its stakeholders. EurOcean is funded by members fees, research projects and services. EurOcean is a knowledge broker. As such, it seeks, collects, analyses, enhances and disseminates data, information and knowledge that is relevant and beneficial for its members, the ocean community and society at large. EurOcean expertise includes ocean science and technology communication, dissemination and exploitation, and stakeholder engagement.
EU Legislative Interests
EurOcean, a clearing house for information on marine science and technology in Europe, through its internet site facilitates access to information on topics related to marine science and technology in Europe with priority given to three main domains: Marine Research Infrastructures, Marine Knowledge Management and Ocean Public Outreach and Education Activities. EurOcean also contributes to initiatives aiming to promote the Blue Society principles. The main policies of interest are the Blue Growth Policy, and the following Directives: MSFD, MSPD, and the CFP
Communication Activities
We are involved in a number of Horizon Europe funded projects, as well as some projects funded by the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership and ERASMUS+.
