Mission & Goals

EADI, the European Association of Development Research and Training Institutes, is the leading European network in the field of Development Studies: With more than 100 institutional members in more than 25 countries it.organises activities and provides platforms for international networking and exchange with a strong interdisciplinary focus. EADI’s flagship events are the General Conferences every three years which bring together the wider Development Research community around a specific topic. The official languages of EADI are English and French. EADI is funded through membership fees as well as by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

EU Legislative Interests

Membership in the TEDN Network: Team Europe Democracy Network https://capacity4dev.europa.eu/projects/team-europe-democracy-ted We were invited to participate as working group lead and attended a the first meeting on 21 June 2023 in Brussels. The Team Europe Democracy (TED) is a global thematic Team Europe Initiative (TEI) launched in December 2021 by 14 Member States (MS) and EU Commission to promote democracy and human rights worldwide. The working group is TED Network Working Group 2 on Political and Civic Participation.

Communication Activities

We will participate in structuring the workplan for working group 2 for the network until 2025, and communicate from our association to the network and vice versa. We will participate in campaigns, projects, events, meetings with policymakers, publications or position papers designed by the TED Network. Our newsletter at https://www.eadi.org/news/newsletter is an important outlet for this. We will focus on Political and Civic Participation, assembling the competencies of our network and contributing to the aims of the TED Network.
