Mission & Goals
EAVI is the non-profit organisation which has worked the longest on media literacy at EU level. We contribute to research (authored four EU-wide studies), policy advice, practices such as conferences, training, resources, publications. We participates and advise to European Commission, Council of Europe and European Audiovisual Observatory works. EAVI’s practices have ensured good visibility, and follow up activities. EAVI is committed to the continuing development of our practices to promote media literacy for full citizenship. It means to use the media for a more meaningful citizenship. We used a wide range of activities to reach out to our general public target. Networking is also essential. We can count on a number of European and national partnerships as well as individuals and relevant fora to reach people also indirectly. EU Legislative Interests
EAVI follows the policy dossiers in the interrelated fields of digital, educational and citizenship fields. As an example the Media Freedom Act, AI Act, Audiovisual Media Service Directive, the DSA, the BIK strategy and many more. Other relevant subjects deal with copyright, tracking, protection of minors, the right to be forgotten, privacy, artificial intelligence, disinformation, democracy, digital citizenship and many more. In general, we closely follow all the EU affairs and dossier related to media literacy, artificial intelligence, and disinformation related to citizenship developments at the EU level.
Communication Activities
Please find information about the most recent event co-organised by EAVI on www.voicesfestival.eu EAVI has compiled position papers on disinformation and the AVMSD and contributed to discussing other EU policy papers related to media (DMA,EAP,DSA, etc.) For more information about our campaigns and activities, please take a look at our website and social media, mainly LinkedIn @EAVI and Instagram @eavimedialiteracy The EAVI social media and blog also include articles related to our activities. As an example online campaign cover digital wellbeing - Mojo the EAVI cat and the Food Menu campaign. They are all across Europe and in different languages.
