Mission & Goals
The European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy (EAFJD) is a pan-European grassroots umbrella organization that represents a significant part of the Armenian diaspora in Europe. Throughout the years the EAFJD has established itself as the main diaspora interlocutor, advocating for key Armenian issues in the European Union, its institutions, member states and other international fora, including the Council of Europe and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. Founded in 2002, the EAFJD which has its seat in Brussels, coordinates the activities of its chapters (committees of the defence of the Armenian Cause) and supporters across Europe. There are currently chapters in 14 countries – Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Sweden, the UK and Spain. Thus, the driving force of the organization are European citizens actively involved in the democratic processes and advocacy in their respective countries.
EU Legislative Interests
The European Armenian Federation for Justice and Democracy (EAFJD) works towards strengthening the ties between the European Union (EU) and Armenia. The Federation advances the key issues of the Armenian foreign policy, such as the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the EU member states as well as the fundamental right to return of the indigenous Armenian people of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) with safety and dignity.
Communication Activities
As a grassroots organization, representing a significant part of the Armenian diaspora in Europe, the EAFJD is engaged in a continuous dialogue with the EU decision-makers, in particular with the Members of the European Parliament (MEPs). The organization frequently holds informative meetings with European parliamentarians in order to sensitize them on the concerns of its supporters and chapters across Europe, the current developments in Armenia as well as in the region of the South Caucasus in general. The EAFJD proactively follows the work of the European Parliament (EP) and carries out the necessary work so that the concerns of its supporters across Europe are given due attention in the legislative process on the EU level. We equally have meetings with members of the EEAS and representatives of the EU Mission in Armenia.
