Mission & Goals
The European Alliance for Medical and Biological Engineering and Science (EAMBES) is an international non-profit association dedicated to the advancement of Medical and Biological Engineering and Science (MBES). MBES is defined as the integration of physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences with biology to improve health systems and quality of life. The primary mandate of EAMBES is to serve and promote the MBES field at the European and international levels. Its key objectives include fostering coordination among member societies, supporting education through the harmonization and accreditation of academic programs, and promoting research and development. Additionally, the alliance aims to recognize individual and group achievements that contribute to healthcare advancement. Strategically, EAMBES acts as a liaison with European governments and agencies, providing expert recommendations and increasing public awareness of the field's impact.
EU Legislative Interests
EAMBES is interested to influence on regulations related with health techonologies and the role of biomedical engineers, below a non exhaustive list of some of the most relevant in this moment: 1. MDR/IVDR (Medical Devices Regulation and In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices Regulation) 2. EHDS (European Health Data Space) 3. AI Act (European Artificial Intelligence Act) 4. HTA regulation
