Mission & Goals

The European Alliance for Research Excellence (EARE) is a coalition of companies and research organisations committed to fostering excellence in research and innovation in Europe. Established in 2017 with the support of Microsoft, Allied for Startups, and BSA The Software Alliance, EARE brings together members from the European research and innovation ecosystem (see our full members' list below). At EARE, we firmly believe in the principle that data should be "as open as possible, as closed as necessary." Our primary objective is to advocate for a policy and legal environment that facilitates data sharing, fosters innovation, and promotes a competitive European research and innovation ecosystem. We strive to ensure that all European researchers have access to data in line with open data principles, encouraging advancements in various societal and economic domains.
