Educational Programme Overview: The European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS) delivers a comprehensive educational programme aimed at building capacity and strengthening standards of care for HIV and related co-infections across Europe. Activities target clinicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals, promoting consistent, high-quality training and evidence-based practice. Core Educational Activities: EACS offers standardised training based on a core curriculum to ensure consistent education across its programmes. Key initiatives include the Management of HIV and Co-infections Online Course, which offers flexible, high-quality clinical training; the Medical Exchange Programme, promoting skill development and pan-European collaboration through short clinical placements and career fellowships; and the HIV Summer School, a five-day residential course enhancing clinical knowledge and research skills. Diploma and Professional Support: To harmonise HIV care expertise across Europe, EACS is developing the European Diploma in HIV Medicine, ensuring a shared level of knowledge among healthcare providers. Additionally, EACS is implementing a support programme for displaced healthcare professionals to facilitate integration into European health systems. Specialised Networks: - YING (Young Investigators Network) fosters collaboration among emerging HIV researchers across Europe. - WAVE (Women Against Viruses in Europe) addresses care gaps for women living with HIV, contributes expert input to the EACS Guidelines, and promotes targeted research through thematic committees. Conferences and Meetings: - The European AIDS Conference, held biennially, is a flagship event drawing international stakeholders to share cutting-edge research and best practices. - The Standard of Care for HIV and Co-infections in Europe meeting is another biennial event, bringing together clinicians, civil society, and public health institutions to discuss regional differences in care and promote consensus on standards. Ongoing Engagement and Publications: - EACS Live! includes monthly online Journal Clubs featuring topical paper discussions led by experts and young investigators. - EACS also produces the European Guidelines for the Management of People Living with HIV, updated regularly and translated into multiple languages to ensure broad accessibility. Collaborative Projects and Consultancy Work: EACS collaborates with the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) on multiple projects: Under the Standard of Care project, EACS is developing measurable and auditable European HIV care standards and quality statements.
