Communication Activities

A key focus of the Center's (ECLDT) work is researching and analyzing the possibilities for adopting and implementing rules for "ethical AI" at an instrumental level (following the "What works" model). This involves creating viable mechanisms for predictability and accountability at the process, model, and classification levels, as well as utilizing ethical impact assessments for AI systems as a means to ensure data protection and safeguard human rights. The analyses are based on documents from the UN, the OECD, and the EU, research findings from peer-reviewed academic journals, and technical standards such as ISO/IEC DTR 24368 (Information technology — Artificial intelligence — Overview of ethical and societal concerns), among others. Some of the results from the research conducted in the field of the use of AI systems and related human rights are presented in articles and scientific conference reports: Legal regulation of artificial intelligence and personal data protection in remote biometric identification, Seventeenth International Scientific Conference "Digital Transformation – business, education, science", International Business School, ISBN 978-954-9432-98-5, pp. 74-84, 2020; - European legislation in the field of artificial intelligence, Digital Technologies and Law: collection of scientific articles of the I International Scientific and Practical Conference / DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.21202/978-5-8399-0772-0_2022_3_440; ISBN 978-5-8399-0772-0, 2022; - Are regulators ready to regulate under the conditions of "digital by default" legislation?, Lex.bg, electronic edition, ISSN 2682-9606, 2024; - Regulatory laboratories /sandboxes/ as an opportunity to increase the innovation potential and competitiveness of Bulgarian companies participating in global value chains among the high technology sector, 23rd International Conference Economy & Business (ISSN 1314-7242), 2024; - Experimental clauses and regulatory labs – innovative approaches to policy prototyping in the field of regulation of high-risk ai systems, XIX International scientific conference, Economic growth, business prospects, market positioning in crisis conditions, ISBN 978-619-7610-17-8, 2024; The activities and publications are available at the following website:https://eulawcentre.org/
