Mission & Goals
Eurocarers seeks to advance the recognition of informal care and represent and act on behalf of all carers, former carers (and their organisations), irrespective of their age or the particular health need of the person they are caring for. Among its principal aims are - The exchange, gathering and dissemination of experience, expertise and good practice, as well as innovations; - Contributing to policy development at national as well as European level supported by evidence-based research: - by acting as a voice for carers and advocating on issues relevant to carers, - by transmitting and ‘translating’ relevant EU policy developments to members operating at national and regional level, and vice versa. The Association will also function as a springboard for (cooperation on) specific pan-European projects.

Communication Activities
Eurocarers signed a partnership agreement with the EC (DG EMPL) under the ESF+/EaSI programme for the period 2026-2029. Eurocarers' action programme builds on six objectives defined in cooperation with EC services, which are: 1) Providing Evidence-Based Input: Eurocarers aims to offer evidence-based input on the situation and needs of carers (including a focus on young carers) across Europe. This includes efforts to promote sustainable and innovative solutions to address these needs in the context of EU policy dialogues as they concern integrated, people-centred and community-based care, access to employment, education and social inclusion. This will build on the EC work programme, EPSR, Social OMC and European Semester process. 2) Supporting stakeholder involvement in the policy process: Support to our national and regional member organisations – and all other relevant stakeholders - in their involvement in the implementation, at national level, of major political EU driven processes. Increase awareness of the situation and needs of carers, including young carers, as well as of the value of informal care, among policymakers, stakeholders and carers themselves. This entails ally building to support our advocacy efforts, including our annual campaign, and organising in-country policy dialogues linked to the implementation of the EPSR and Care Strategy. 3) Disseminating the EU Care Strategy and Care Deal (as it relates to informal carers) and promoting a holistic approach to care and caring. This approach aims to bridge the gap between existing EU, national and regional policy initiatives across various domains including care, employment, social affairs, education, youth, gender equality and more. We will promote new initiatives that support carers and address their needs, such as the Gender Equality Strategy, Intergenerational Fairness Strategy and Anti-Poverty Strategy. 4) Enhancing Understanding of EU Instruments and use of EU instruments (EPSR, Care Strategy, EU Strategies, etc.) among the 'carers community' to advance our agenda at national and regional levels. This includes gathering input on carers’ contributions to health and social care systems and the economy as a whole, building capacities of our members to engage in national level advocacy, organising capacity-building events, developing policy briefings and PR materials, towards ensuring high satisfaction and learning among our members. 5) Promoting innovative (ICT-based) solutions to empower informal carers, provide them with the information they need, and help them balance work and care responsibilities. This will involve collecting good practices in our online repository. 6) Ensuring the sound and transparent functioning of our network as a federal-type organisation. This includes maintaining a diverse membership base, holding regular meetings of the Eurocarers Board and General Assembly, and strengthening networking among our members.
