Mission & Goals
The European Association of National Metrology Institutes (EURAMET) is a Regional Metrology Organisation (RMO) of Europe. It coordinates the cooperation of National Metrology Institutes (NMI) of Europe in fields like research in metrology, traceability of measurements to the SI units, international recognition of national measurement standards and related Calibration and Measurement Capabilities (CMC) of its members. Through Knowledge Transfer and cooperation among its members EURAMET facilitates the development of the national metrology infrastructures.

Communication Activities
EURAMET is the Delegated Implementation Structure for the European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research and the Metrology Partnership. The programme and partnership are designed to encourage collaboration between European National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) and partners in industry or academia. The programme and partnership fund joint research projects in specific fields of metrology.

In 2025, the total amount of EU grants received by EURAMET e. V. was 42,7 M€. None of these funds were or will be retained by EURAMET itself, all funds are distributed by EURAMET to beneficiaries. Operational costs of EURAMET e. V. are fully funded by the member states. EURAMET received EU funds for the Partnership in 2025 in accordance with Contribution Agreements: 10,75 Mio € was received on 31st January 2025 to cover the interim payments for call 2022. 28,05 Mio € was received on 20th May 2025 to cover the prefinancing payments for call 2024 this number is given net of contribution to Mutual Insurance Mechanism that is retained by the Commission. And 3,9 Mio € was received on 9th July 2025 to cover the final payments for call 2021. EURAMET received no EU funds for EMPIR in 2025 or 2026. The amount of 464 006,77 € which was not used for call 2019 related costs was paid back to the commission on 14th November 2025. In 2026, the total amount of EU grants received by EURAMET e. V. as at 24th February was 12,75 M€. None of these funds were or will be retained by EURAMET itself, all funds are distributed by EURAMET to beneficiaries. Operational costs of EURAMET e. V. are fully funded by the member states. EURAMET received EU funds for the Partnership in 2026 in accordance with Contribution Agreements: 12,75 Mio € was received on 20th January 2026 to cover the interim payments for call 2023.
