Mission & Goals

EU Matrix is a EU-focused research platform adapted to the digital age. It combines expert insight and digital technology to provide factual and objective information on how the EU political machinery and society works. We collect publicly-available information from a variety of sources. We then structure and interpret it based on our experience in order to deliver the unbiased assessments that both professionals and the public at large need to have in a functional democracy. In this way, we help at quickly filtering out the noise, the personal biases and the inherent stereotypes that sometimes prevent us from seeing trends clearly. We are mainly based in Brussels (EU’s Capital) and we have a network of experts across the EU.

EU Legislative Interests

We are mainly interested in institutional changes, hence the reform of the European governance architecture, the reform of the EP's electoral system, inter-institutional relations (i.e. AFCO-related files, such as Implementation of the principle of the primacy of EU law; Proposals of the European Parliament for the amendment of the Treaties; Amendments to Parliament’s Rules of Procedure with a view to strengthening integrity, independence and accountability; Draft European Council decision establishing the composition of the European Parliament; Parliamentarism, European citizenship and democracy) with the purpose of ensuring better and democratic governance. We also follow developments of the regulation in the digital sector, like the AI act.

Communication Activities

Our main communication tool is our website, www.eumatrix.eu, where we publish reports and analysis regarding both legislative and societal developments. We do this by adhering to high standards of both precision and objectivity. Where content is being produced using external sources, such as data from other providers, or interviews with / articles by third parties, this will be transparently marked as such. We hold a high respect for professional ethics and personal privacy. Our assessments are based strictly on activities undertaken by decision-makers while publicly exercising their mandate of political representatives. To this end, we use information that is purposely publicised by the public institutions, political representatives or private actors.
