Mission & Goals

ESOP is the Portuguese Open Source Business Alliance representing private and public institutions involved with software and services based on Open Source solutions. The Association's purpose is: a) to promote, develop, and stimulate the open source software market in Portugal and in Portuguese-speaking countries; b) to defend the rights and legitimate interests of companies in the sector, and to this end, it may carry out all activities appropriate to that purpose. ESOP - Associação de Empresas de Software Open Source Portuguesas (the Business Open Source Alliance for Portugal) is a non-profit NGO established in 2007 in Portugal which caters for open technologies and interoperability, and is incorporated as a trade association of enterprises which promote, value and deliver products and services based in open technologies, open technologies and interoperability, mainly Open Source, Open Data and the Open Networks.

EU Legislative Interests

All legislative and/or policies discussions on the transparency of activities involving ICT, with special emphasis on Software, Hardware and Open Source. Any matter related to the topics of Digital Sovereignty, Transparency, Open Data and Open Standards. Of special interest, we are working in several initiatives regarding the CRA - Cybersecurity Resilience Act, the Public Procurement Directive revision, the EU Radio Equipment Directive and the European Open Digital Ecosystem Strategy.
