Mission & Goals

Elafonisos Living Green.” Our work combines local action with international collaboration to protect marine and coastal ecosystems, raise awareness, and foster sustainable living. A key focus is the urgent threat of invasive lionfish (Pterois miles) in the Mediterranean, where we coordinate scientific, policy and community initiatives to transform this challenge into opportunities for sustainable fisheries, gastronomy and blue economy innovation. Beyond lionfish, our activities include ecological symposiums, beach and sea clean-ups, youth engagement, educational programmes, and close cooperation with authorities and NGOs to address waste, water, biodiversity, and climate resilience. With members and partners across Europe, Elafonisos Eco acts as a bridge between local communities and global efforts to safeguard the Mediterranean.
