Mission & Goals

Epicenter.works is a Vienna-based digital rights NGO that has been fighting for human rights in the digital age since 2010. We have our roots in the anti-surveillance and privacy debate where we campaigned and then successfully sued against the indiscriminate mass surveillance law called data retention. A lot of our work is focused on legislation in the EU, UN and on national level. We have a team of nine staff members and fund most of our work via individual small donations. Our organisation has three core principles: 1. Independence, from all political parties, companies and ideologies 2. Fact driven, we are solemnly grounded on scientific, legal and technical facts 3. Solution oriented, we only critique if we can point to alternative solutions
