Mission & Goals
Za Zemiata (ZZ) is an independent non-profit non-governmental organization established in 1995 to work for environmental justice and sustainable and equitable life on our planet, without exploitation of people or nature.
EU Legislative Interests
Za Zemiata promotes sustainable solutions in energy and climate, zero waste practices, food sovereignty and organic farming, air quality and urban environment, strategic use of public funds to drive environmental protection and long-term well-being for people and other species alike. - European Green Deal and National Recovery and Resilience Plans - EU rules on packaging and packaging waste - EU plastics strategy and Single Use Plastics Directive - EU Cohesion Policy - Revision of Ambient Air Quality Directive - REACH Regulation - EU rules on New Genomic Techniques, NGTs - Fit for 55
Communication Activities
We work through national expert groups in the different areas described above through direct participation in meetings, advocacy meetings on national and EU level, produce position papers, publications, letters, media outreach. We produce researches and reports, video outreach content, articles. We also monitor some of the EU funds listed above. Additionally, we work through awareness raising and capacity building to mobilise and empower local communities to take action on a variety of environmental conflicts, e.g. unsustainable energy projects, air pollution, mining (gold, uranium, coal), waste incineration and landfills, damage of protected areas, tax justice, etc.

Za Zemiata is the Bulgarian member of the largest international network of environmental organisations, Friends of the Earth (www.foeeurope.org, www.foei.org).
