Mission & Goals

Energy & Tubomachinery Network (ETN Global) is a non-profit membership association bringing together the entire value chain of turbomachinery technology, representing over 144 members worldwide. ETN Global map out pathways for safe, secure and dispatchable carbon-neutral energy solutions and foster cooperation and information exchange among all stakeholders. In technical committees and working groups, experts from the whole value chain, including power generation and industrial users, manufacturers, suppliers, service providers, the research community (universities and research institutes) and consultancies, comes together to encourage and facilitate information exchange about low carbon and carbon-neutral solutions. Through cooperative efforts and by initiating common activities and projects, ETN Global accelerates research, development and demonstration of sustainable, safe and affordable energy & heat solutions.

EU Legislative Interests

ETN Global follows, advocates and provides input in relation to energy policy developments (2030 and 2050 goals), climate and environment policy, research policy, in particular the industrial emissions directive, energy efficiency policies, Horizon Europe framework programmes, EU taxonomy, EU emissions trading and carbon capture and storage dossiers, REPowerEU. ETN Global monitors the SET Plan Action 5: Energy efficiency solutions for buildings, SET Plan Action 6: Energy efficiency in industry and SET Plan Action 9: Carbon cature utilisation and storage platforms, ETIP SNET platform, ETIP Renewable Heating and Cooling Platfrom and ZERO Emmissions Platform and attends regular advisory meetings at those platforms, as well as regular meetings in the European Parliament, and follows the conferences organised by the European Commission on energy, research, climate and environmental initiatives and policies.

Communication Activities

- In December 2024, ETN Global, as part of the ENZA alliance, composed of 24 associations, created a comprehensive document composed of solutions and recommendations for the first 100 days of the new European Commission. - In January 2025 ETN Global published a white paper “The Critical role of dispatchable power generation for a sustainable and secure energy transition”. This document outlines four key challenges related to security of supply facing Europe’s energy system, as it transitions towards carbon-neutral future, shifting from one dominated by fossil-fuels towards one based primarily on variable renewable energy sources. It proposes actionable solutions and calls for immediate action from the European policy makers, and industry leaders to address these. - On 20 February 2025 ETN Global submitted our input to European Commission’s public consultation on “Delegated act on primarily used components under the Net-Zero Industry Act”. We urged the Commission to recognise gas turbines running on carbon-neutral fuels to be recognised and included on a list of net-zero technologies in the Net-Zero Industry Act. - On 15 May 2023 ETN Global , together with other 21 European Net Zero Alliance (ENZA) member organisations, submitted a joint position paper on EC’s Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA).The paper emphasised the importance of producing competitive clean energy technologies within the EU to achieve climate targets, enhance energy security, and ensure a cost-efficient transition for industries and consumers. - On 25 October, ETN Global together with 46 European Net Zero Alliance (ENZA) member organisations, united to address the Gas Regulation trilogue, urging the establishment of a binding EU target for biomethane within the Hydrogen & Gas Package. A joint letter has been formally sent to Permanent Representatives Committee, European Parliament and the European Commission. - On 15 December ETN Global submitted our contribution to EU Taxonomy via a stakeholder request mechanism urging the EC to include Waste Heat to Power (WH2P) activities under EU Taxonomy.
