Mission & Goals
EllaLink is a privately funded and independent company committed to providing products and services on a Carrier Neutral and Open Access basis. The EllaLink submarine cable system is an advanced optical platform offering secure high-capacity connectivity on a unique low latency transatlantic route serving the growing needs of the Latin American and European markets. The EllaLink network directly connects Brazil and Europe, linking the major hubs of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Fortaleza with Lisbon, Madrid and Marseille. The EllaLink submarine cable system has been built with state-of-the-art coherent technology initially offering 100Tbps of capacity over four direct fibre pairs between Europe and Brazil. Marguerite II, a pan-European equity fund active in the renewables, energy, transport and digital infrastructure sectors, is the main shareholder of EllaLink.
EU Legislative Interests
EllaLink promotes the development of new cable systems connected to Europe. EllaLink is involved in projects related to the Global Gateway and Horizon 2020 programs.
Communication Activities
EllaLink has been invited to the "EU-LAC Global Gateway Investment Agenda: Working group on digital" and may upon request or invitation participate to similar events.

EllaLink is a member of : - SUBOPTIC (https://www.suboptic.org/) : The SubOptic Association and Foundation work together to advance the global submarine cable industry through a unique synergy of collaboration, innovation, and philanthropy. - ICPC (https://www.iscpc.org/) : The International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC) was founded in 1958 and its Membership comprises of governmental administrations and commercial companies that own or operate submarine telecommunications or power cables, as well as other companies that have an interest in the submarine cable industry—including most of the world’s major cable system owners and cable ship operators. The primary purpose of the ICPC is to help its Members to improve the security of undersea cables by providing a forum in which relevant technical, legal and environmental information can be exchanged. Sines Tech (https://sinestech.pt/) : Sines Tech is an Innovation & Data Center Hub strategically positioned for the joint development of subsea cable systems and data center infrastructures in Sines, Portugal.

EllaLink has signed several grant agreement with HADEA under the CEF Digital program: - CEF-DIG-2021-GATEWAYS-WORKS : 21-IE-DIG-Mauritania Subsea (9.5m€) - CEF-DIG-2022-GATEWAYS-WORKS : 22-EU-DIG-Subsea French Guiana (29m€) - CEF-DIG-2022-GATEWAYS-WORKS : 22-IE-DIG-Olisipo Project (6m€ - suspended) These grants have not yet been received and shall be paid later in 2025 and 2026. EllaLink is as well part of the Submerse research consortium and has received 48k€ grant in 2023.
