Mission & Goals

EU Legislative Interests

Following President von der Leyen’s Political Guidelines 2024-2029 1, the European Commission has set up the President’s Youth Advisory Board (the ‘Board’) on 25 June2. The Board will provide advice on ongoing and future Commission policies and initiatives relevant to young people, giving them an opportunity to express their views at the highest level of the Commission. The Board will operate in compliance with the horizontal rules on the creation and operation of Commission expert groups 3. This initiative further strengthens the Commission’s efforts to reinforce youth participation at the Union level. It builds upon the Commission’s Communication on the European Year of Youth 20224 which reaffirmed the ambition of the Commission to empower young people to actively participate in and shape the Union’s future. The Board will be composed of 28 members: the National Youth Council in each EU Member State and the European Youth Forum. Members will be appointed until the end of the mandate of the current Commission. For those Member States where there is more than one
