Mission & Goals

The Economic Development Board Association (EDBA) is an international non‑profit network that supports Local Economic Boards (LEBs) & Sustainable Local Economic Boards (SLEBs) in building thriving, smart, inclusive, and healthy communities. Its core goals include: Grassroots community development: fostering local engagement through mentoring, advisory services, volunteer initiatives, and workshops to drive socioeconomic growth economicboard.org+3epale.ec.europa.eu+3economicboard.org+3 . Digital and green transitions: promoting ICT, AI/LLM applications, digital monitoring tools, carbon‑footprint platforms, citizen science, and sustainable behaviours epale.ec.europa.eu . EU Legislative Interests

The Economic Development Board Association (EDBA) primarily targets EU legislative proposals and policies that support sustainable development, social inclusion, digital transition, and green growth. The main EU frameworks and initiatives aligned with EDBA’s mission include: European Green Deal EDBA supports projects that contribute to climate neutrality, green innovation, and circular economy—especially through community-led development and sustainable agriculture. Digital Europe Programme EDBA promotes digital transformation, including AI/LLM tools, digital upskilling, and digital inclusion via local boards and training networks. European Pillar of Social Rights Focus on empowering youth, women, and vulnerable communities with access to jobs, education, health, and lifelong learning. NextGenerationEU / Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) EDBA helps stakeholders access RRF funds to build local resilience, especially in health, energy, and economic recovery. Horizon Europe & Erasmus+ As a project enabler, EDBA supports applications in green, digital, and inclusive education/research innovation streams. Pact for Skills & EU Skills Agenda EDBA builds local Centres of Vocational Excellence and skills alliances to respond to labour market needs, including in Africa and Eastern Europe. NDICI-Global Europe & Team Europe Initiatives EDBA targets global partnerships for development, supporting inclusive governance, youth empowerment, and climate adaptation in partner countries. These policies guide EDBA’s actions to mobilize public-private synergies, empower communities, and co-design systemic change across EU and partner territories.
