Mission & Goals
The DRA operates at a global level through an alliance of Dutch humanitarian organisations and in partnership with the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2015. We work together with more than 90 local organisations. The DRA works on the ground to deliver principled humanitarian relief – life-saving assistance, in line with humanitarian response plans and best practices. Over the past years the DRA has delivered humanitarian aid to more than 4 million people in 22 crises. The DRA is an alliance of 14 Dutch NGOs which collaborate closely to respond in a timely, effective and efficient manner to the most serious and complex crises through Joint Responses. The Alliance enables NGOs to exchange knowledge, skills, expertise and learning.
EU Legislative Interests
We are targeting the EU humanitarian aid policy. Aid is delivered to victims of humanitarian crises and disasters based on the needs of affected populations by funding humanitarian projects carried out by non-governmental humanitarian organisations. Almost all the DRA Partners receive currently EU humanitarian funding. Within this policy we target specifically at the topics of Capacity building, Disaster preparedness, Resilience and HDP nexus, Grand bargain and IHL. Secondly we target the policy on strategic humanitarian partnerships. All of the DRA Partners have an humanitarian partnership certificate, furthermore the Dutch Relief Alliance is also a good example of how a EU member state works together with NGOs on Grand bargain commitments.
