Mission & Goals
At the Drupal Association, our vision is a web that is innovative, inclusive, and open. Our mission is to drive innovation and adoption of Drupal as a high-impact digital public good, hand-in-hand with our open source community. In June of 2023, the Drupal Association adopted its own Open Web Manifesto(drupal.org/association/open-web-manifesto), which is built into the ethos of both our non-profit operations and the activities of the Open Source project. It is built on 5 principles, and 3 requirements. The principles are that the open web: 1) Is built on freedom, 2) Is defined by decentralization, 3) Thrives on inclusion, 4) Requires participation, 5) Exists for empowerment. The requirements are that the open web must: 1) protect — not exploit — personal data and public discourse, 2) enable the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs to compete, 3) be resilient to a changing world and not controlled by a select few.
