Mission & Goals
Our organisation is a DRK blood service. We supply hospitals and resident doctors in the catchment area with medicinal products from human blood and provide transfusion-related laboratory services. We - are an independent non-profit company with the legal form of a gGmbH. - do not sell the donated blood, but the processed blood preparations using professional staff and complex technology, but only to the amount of the costs that were previously incurred - for example for the application and organization of the blood donation appointments, for transport, laboratory tests and the further processing as well as production, storage and delivery of preparations. - guarantee a comprehensive and safe supply of blood products in Lower Saxony, Bremen, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, 24 hrs a day, 365 days a year - even in the event of a disaster. - do not receive any monetary donations or subsidies from public or private institutions.
EU Legislative Interests
We target regulation on substances of human origin with special focus on blood and blood components and non-remunerated donation.
Communication Activities
We participated in an EU-funded project for the provision of CCP (Covid convalescent plasma).
