Mission & Goals

Diplomeds – The Council for Mediterranean Diplomacy is a policy group working to improve relations between countries in the Mediterranean, promote regional cooperation, increase inclusivity, resolve conflicts, and advance peace.

EU Legislative Interests

EU policy processes that Diplomeds worked to provide diplomatic support to: Mid-term assessment of the Agenda for the Mediterranean Union for the Mediterranean reform Review of the European neighborhood policy - Southern neighborhood Preparation of the Pact for the Mediterranean and Middle East Strategy The Peace Day Effort Implementation Dialogue with civil society with High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission (HR/VP) Kaja Kallas on “Securing Peace: The EU as a Peace and Security Actor in a changing conflict landscape”

Communication Activities

Events – Multiple policy briefings by Diplomeds experts to EEAS officials; Organization of a policy roundtable in Rabat, in cooperation with the EU Delegation to Morocco; participation in workshops and conferences convened by EU institutions (including the Schuman Forum and the CoP Mediation); Publications – Monthly reports about developments in Mediterranean diplomacy; policy papers on the EU role in advancing Israel-Lebanon de-escalation, the need for an international diplomatic horizon for an Israeli-Palestinian two-state solution, leveraging energy findings in the Mediterranean for conflict resolution, the costs of the ongoing Morocco-Algeria conflict, the Mediterranean angle of the war in Gaza, and West Mediterranean insights and opportunities.
